The Coyotes opened the 2015-16 season by traveling to play in the Clash at Canyons tournament.  Cuyamaca played East LA, who came in ranked #8 in Southern California after losing the state championship game last season.  Cuyamaca, with only two players from last year's squad, would hope to minimize their "first game jitters."  At the half, the Coyotes trailed 30-41.  At the beginning of the second half, East LA stretched their lead to 19 points with 15 minutes to play.  The Coyotes fought back behind the play of Jon Irving (18 pts, 3 stls), Rodney Dantzler (12 pts, 3 stls), Chase Parsons (10 pts, 3 asts), and Jahzdion Taylor (10 pts, 10 rebs).  When Zach Kissel (10 pts) hit his second three of the game, the Coyotes trailed by only six points with one minute to play.  Unfortunately, East LA protected the ball and made their free throws.  Cuyamaca put up a fight, losing 73-84.
