A Leader in Every Way: Laura Pearson Shines On the Court and in the Classroom

El Cajon, CA

Laura has been an incredible part of this program, and we are all so proud of everything she has accomplished—both on and off the court. Her presence has had a profound impact on this team, and we feel truly fortunate to have shared this season with her.

Laura has been playing volleyball for 7 years, and her growth shows in every aspect of her game. This season, she proved herself as one of the top blockers in the conference. She finishes the year with 119 kills, 1.72 kills per set, 360 total attacks, a strong .217 hitting percentage, and a dominant 66 total blocks (26 solo, 40 assists). She leads the team in total blocks and hitting percentage. Across the conference, Laura ranks 6th in blocks per set in the PCAC. Over her Cuyamaca career, she has totaled 223 kills and 140 blocks. She has also been selected as part of the PCAC First Team All Conference.

In addition to her commitment on the court, Laura also has a 4.0 GPA across the previous two semesters. The 3C2A would like to present Laura with the All-State Academic Team Award.

However, Laura's impact isn't measured solely by statistics. Some of the best memories this team shares come from celebrating points together, team dinners, long van rides, parking lot talks, and the moments when we opened up about life. Even during stressful or overwhelming times, everyone knew they could come to her. Her steady presence, her warmth, and her willingness to support anyone who needed it made her a cornerstone of our culture.

Her favorite quote reflects how she lives her life and plays this sport:
"Hard work beats talent that doesn't work hard."

To the team, Laura leaves these meaningful words:
"Thank you for everything—the memories, the opportunities, and all the great moments."

And her to future collegiate athletes she leaves:
"Keep trying. Keep pushing yourself to be better, keep taking every opportunity, and keep giving 110%."

Laura, we love you, we appreciate you, and we are endlessly grateful for everything you have brought to this team. We hope your next chapter is filled with joy, success, and so much happiness. Don't forget to come back and visit us—we're going to miss you more than you know.
